Legal. This calculator creates an estimate only, and actual energy savings are subject to change. Quanex makes no representation or warranty whatsoever to any user of this calculator that these energy or cost savings will be achieved. Calculations were performed using the U.S. Department of Energy's DOE-2 modeling software, with weather data for individual cities provided by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (DOE-NREL). Results are based on industry average window area of 15% of house square footage, and assume Energy Panel is used on all windows in the house. Modeled sizes are 1400 ft² 1-Story, 2000 ft² 1-Story, and 2600 ft² 2-Story; with basement or slab as is most common in the selected city. Default fuel costs are based on state averages for selected city, and can be modified by user to reflect utility statement data. Heating options are Gas Furnace or Electric Baseboard - other fuels, or modifiers such as electric heat pumps, are not considered.
